I'm one of those people who wants to be healthy, but I also want to LIVE!!! I enjoy a delicious meal, & I didn't want to start eating like some sort of monk just because of my elevated LDL. You know, I'm 37 years old, not exactly geriatric, and I'm not ready to define myself as one of those people who are "on cholesterol meds." You know what I mean? Going on a restricted diet or taking medications is really not fun at any age. I'm 58, and still consider myself too young to be popping pills for my cholesterol. The problem for me was that dietary changes weren't working. I exercised, ate my fiber, cut out fatty foods, all that, and still had high LDL. Apparently, high cholesterol has NO SYMPTOMS, which is scary to me, because that means the first "symptom" will probably be a heart attack or stroke.
